Before sojourning into organised civil society space, Professor George-Hill, gained knowledge about the private sector with Okosen Security & Investment Limited, as Executive General Manager from 1997 to 1999. Later, precisely, in January 2001, he joined the services of Neutrans International Limited, as Contract Manager (CM) from January 2001 to January 2002. In February 2002, he was appointed, General Manager (GM) of Gmaisaje (Nigeria) Limited. A position, that subsisted, until, December 2002. In February 2003, he joined the services of Arovihna International Limited, as Group Operations Manager (GOM). During that period, he was also involved, with campaigns for extractive, environmental and economic justice for Niger Delta communities, through frontline (regional) youths’ leadership, which metamorphosed, into his headship of the Commonwealth of Niger Delta Youths. Basically, he is among passionate campaigners against injustices, oppression and crimes related to extractive exploitation of Niger Delta’s communities. He voluntarily, relinquished, this position, even without completing his second tenure in the spirit of honour, because of the dilution of struggles in the Niger Delta. Following this development, he was elected, a Lifetime (National) Trustee of the body in 2007. He is the Founder of the Centre for International Volunteers for Youths Development. An organization, dedicated to empowerment of young people, through leadership education, capacity investment, character-shaping and mentoring.

He founded George-Hill Anthony Foundation (Inc) in August 2013. This foundation, is dedicated, to the protection of vulnerable groups, particularly, women and children. He was bestowed with an honour for empowerment of (reasonable number) of youths in the Niger Delta by Nigerian Professionals (NiPRO-America) in 2004. He left Arovihna Group in February 2005 and sojourned into full-time civil rights activism. Same 2005, he was seconded as National Coordinator to Niger Delta Budget Monitoring Group, by a National Executive Committee, that nurtured NDEBUMOG. In 2009, he was elevated to the position of Executive Director, following, internal restructuring by the Board. This position is subject to NDEBUMOG’s Board democratic renewal(s) or otherwise per a tenure.

He became, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BOT) of Bayelsa State Non-Governmental Organizations Forum (BANGOF) in February 2013. He is the Board of Trustees Chairman of Commonwealth of Niger Delta Youths and Board Member- Treatment Access Mobilizers (TAM). He is the South-South Coordinator of Nigeria’s Resource Governance Group (NRGG), among others. He is an (academic) Professor of Public Finance Management in a Professional University in USA, a member of Society for Monitoring & Evaluation Association of Nigeria, a Certified/Chartered Management Consultant (2019) and Fellow of renowned institutions and holds membership in other professional bodies, including, authorship of books and various reports. Prof George-Hill, has handled, several research within the spectrum of Nigeria’s developmental complexities, including, others with global interlocking.

He has awards, communal and revered societal honours, attributed to his efforts for empowerment of communities, youths, and women within the Niger Delta and beyond. Equally, he holds consolidated Traditional/Royal Designations, such as, (Utuenikan Iwaad, High Chief+++++ & Eze+++), among others. These Royal Designations are Consolidated.

He was an Associate Research Fellow of African Institute of Applied Economics (AfriHeritage) in 2008. Presently, he is a Fellow of Centre for Budget Policy & Advocacy, Fellow of Institute of Management Consultants of Nigeria and Fellow of African Institute of Public Administration (AIPA). He is an Alumnus of West & Central Africa Human Rights Institute, Africa Leadership Forum’s (DLT 2001) and a Certified Forensic Investigation Professional (CFIP) and Certified Anti-Corruption Consultant (CACC), with International Institute of Certified Forensic Investigation Professionals, USA. He holds, an Advanced, Executive Certificate in Transformational Leadership and Management, including, Kwame Nkruma’s Transformative Leadership Medal (TLM), University of Oxford’s Certificate of Achievement for Completion of Introduction to Sustainable Finance Course through instrumentality of African Development Bank (AfDB). A partaker in several Apolitical (UK) courses, with completion certificates. Some of the courses were on: Introduction to Policymaking, How to be Digital in the Canadian Public Service, How to Build Your Career in the UK’s Civil Service, et al. He holds (MOOC) certificates from the Knight Centre of University of Texas, at Austin, among others. Prof George-Hill, engages, in academic and (crosscutting) development’s work, with communities, civil society, professional peers and other experts, globally! For example, in 2021, he was among presenters at Africa’s Civil Society Conference that was organised by the University of Johannesburg. He is ardent about balancing theoretical magniloquence, known about some classrooms, with (realistic) practical dynamics of evolving development’s work and anthropological innovations. Professor George-Hill, is inexorable on researches. He is concern on how young folks, could connect, emotional intelligence to situational dynamics for sustainable (self) development, anthropological realities and humanistic prosperity. He has engaged and consulted for several agencies, locally and international, such as, Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), State House-Abuja, Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, OSSAP-SDGs, Federal MDAs, Sub national Agencies, National Assembly, Oxfam Nigeria, Actionaid-Nigeria, DfID, United Nations, World Bank, OSIWA, RWI, NDI, USAID, IDASA, among others.
