Procurement Sensitizations

NDEBUMOG have been partnering and have collaborated with the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), since our inception in the era, when BPP was the Budget Monitoring & Price Intelligence Unit (BMPIU), before the passage of the Public Procurement Act by the National Assembly, in which NDEBUMOG also played a critical role through advocacy and legislative lobbying of the National Assembly, along with other civil society groups and stakeholders, who all championed the campaigns at the same time.

Following the above and subsequent passage of the Public Procurement Bill into an “Act” in 2007, we have collaborated with the BPP to facilitate five regional procurement sensitizations on behalf of the BPP for the South-South Zone, which was at Calabar (2008), Port Harcourt (2009), Asaba (2011) and Benin City (2012). There was also Contractors’ Forum of the BPP in 2010 at Asaba, which the expert presentation was led by NDEBUMOG’s Leadership. We also have attended numerous events of the BPP at the national level and have at our Regional Budget Library, copies of Federal MDAs Procurement Plans and Records, supplied to us by the BPP in large quantities, which are made available and distributed to members of the public and stakeholders across the zone, free without cost.

We have also conducted series of trainings specifically on public procurement for stakeholders across the zone and beyond, and shall continue to do so from time to time.
